Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Can I still have animals classified by inspection?
A – There is no need for inspections with the new Breed Plan, as Commercial animals enter through a C1 grading and Registered animals (Certificates of parents are required if not already on the database) will enter through a C3 grading.
2. Can I still use my Charolais and Brahmans as Breeders?
A – Yes, A, B & C Grade Charolais enter the system as C1’s -  D, E & F Grade Charolais  and ABBA Registered Brahmans enter as C3’s.
3. What happens if my neighbours unregistered Bull gets into my herd?
A – Registration of any progeny would be C1.
4. If I use a Charolais or Brahman over my C5 grade cows, where do the progeny fit in?
A – Provided they meet the content requirement (75% maximum) they will be graded as C4’s. Outside the 75% they will be C3’s
5. How do I know what grade my cattle are?
A – The database on the Charbray website has been updated – a search of the database will give you a grading for all your cattle, you can even search for a particular grade of cattle in your herd.
6. What about the Certificates for the animals I had registered prior to the change?
A – Current Registration Certificates will remain valid but any reprints or new registrations as of the 01.03.09 will be printed with the new grading system. Please note requested reprints of currently held certificates will incur a fee of $5.50 per certificate.
