Dallas Ranch
Charbrays was founded in 1996. The stud embarked on an embryo transfer
program in 1999 with the purchase of two foundation donor cows from
Palgrove. Charmhaven D41F and Palgrove Starlet R/F were flushed with
full Hudgins and leading American red sires with fantastic results.
These two
females were regretfully sold to South Burnett Beef in 2000 aged 16
years and 14 years. At the time, D41F was the highest priced carcass
cow ever sold in Queensland. She weighed 480kg and returned $1416. Progeny
from these two great matrons is for sale in 2002.
To broaden
our gene pool the stud purchased the top priced female at Gobongo in
2001. The Full French Apollon daughter, Conroy Laura P23F, has been
flushed successfully with progeny due soon.
In 2001,
the stud also introduced the genetic package of Plagrove Dreamgirl 10
V133F. This Absalon daughter has also been flushed to full Hudgins sires
with ET progeny due in Spring 2002.
Our aim
at Dallas Ranch is to breed 50/50 content Charbray cattle that have
the ability to perform in the northern climate without sacrificing carcass
quality. We believe the cross of our Full French females and Full Hudgins
Brahman sires allow us to breed the package of muscle and bone with
fat coverage that we are all searching for.
We currently
have F2 50/50 progeny on the way. Once we have enough F1 genetics available
to us, our direction is to breed Charbray to Charbray.
At Dallas
Ranch we are excited about the Charbray genetics we have to offer this
year and will have larger numbers of 50/50 bulls to offer in the future.
